DVD Review: RWBY Vol.3 DVD

We probably should have bought the Blu-Ray.

Extras

Aside from the behind the scenes video called “Legecy of Monty” , The Extra’s don’t really feature much outside of the four world of remnant segments from Vol.3 including the “Four Maidens” story which I highly recommend checking out but the “Legacy” video simply talks about the day Monty pitched his idea to RWBY to his other two writers Miles Luna & Kerry Shawcross as previewed here.

You can tell from the enthusiasm and the heart that was put into their conversational tone that they took  alot of risks when Monty was alive. the Tribute Video RT made in Monty’s Honor isn’t even in the features but I felt that it should’ve been more prominent.

The Blu-Ray extras supposedly contained more as displayed by this sample video I found months ago of Lindsay Jones (The voice of Ruby) talking about Ruby’s character development for future stories.

Since I already covered Vol.3 from start to finish episodically when they first premiered online, I feel I don’t have to cover every episode again but what I will say is that it’s one of those shows that rely heavily on you knowing who the characters are and if your new to RWBy, I suggest watching Vol 1 & 2 first as Volume 3 goes into a dramatically dark direction.

The main menu consistently manages to keep the option to see each episode in chapters/episodes option or watch them together in a movie-like format as the previous volumes have done.

RWBY Vol.3 as a whole is still a good purchase and would’ve been better if all the Blu-Ray features made it to the DVD version but sadly since Blu-Ray is the biggest thing out there, companies want to do everything they can to make it a selling point.
