Review: Bob’s Burgers – “Bye Bye Boo Boo”

Spoilers Below

Way back in the third season, we were introduced to the boy band, Boyz 4 Now. Louise found herself crushing on the smallest member of the band, Boo Boo. Now Boyz 4 Now are breaking up and it’s all Boo Boo’s fault.

When the girls find out that Boyz 4 Now is breaking up, they attend an emergency meeting of Tina’s Boyz 4 Now fan club. Since Boo Boo is going solo, he is asking fan club members to turn their club into a Boo Crew. However, everyone hates Boo Boo so their club isn’t changing. But Louise still has a thing for the tiny boy. When she finds out there is a contest to win a roller coaster ride with Boo Boo, she rushes home and signs Tina up for the new club. When the swag box arrives in Tina’s name, Tina tries to convince Louise to admit her crush. Even though Louise insists that she does not like Boo Boo, she recruits Tina, Gene, Andy, and Ollie to gather email addresses for the contest.

The president of Tina’s original fan club finds out about Tina’s betrayal. In an attempt to get back at Boo Boo, she decides to change the fan club to a Boo Crew and win the contest. Her father (rather illegally) signs up everyone in his company for the email newsletter, giving her club the win. But she doesn’t really want to ride the coaster with Boo Boo. Instead, everyone in the club eats all of the snacks on the wharf in order to vomit on Boo Boo. Before the Spew Crew can upchuck on the kid, Louise stops them and admits her crush. Thanks to her big speech, Boo Boo is spared the spew.

Meanwhile, a historian stops by Bob’s restaurant. He figures out that there was a mob hit in the restaurant in the 1920s. Even though the historian sends Bob a plaque, Bob refuses to install it. When Pesto catches wind of the hit, he puts up his own plaque and lies about a mob hit at his restaurant. Bob brings the historian back to prove Pesto is lying but, in the end, can’t bring himself to ruin Pesto’s happiness.

I love when there is a Louise-centric episode. While I would have loved to see a few more shenanigans when they were collecting email addresses, it was pretty funny to see some of the things they came up with. It’s also nice to see Bob be such a nice guy. He could have easily ruined Pesto with his proof but he decided to be the bigger guy and let things be. If only the writers would let the nice guy win.
