Review: Fugget About It ” An Unmarried Bra Whisperer”

Fugget About It was back last night with an all new episode. Continuing on deep into their third season, the show is still proving to be as good as ever. While some episodes may not hit as hard as others, they make me laugh at the very least. That was sort of the case with last night’s episode. So let’s just jump right into the review!

In “An Unmarried Bra Whisperer” Cookie discovers that Jimmy was engaged when they met ad moves out and becomes a bra-fitting consultant. Meanwhile, Cheech passes himself off as a war veteran to get cheap stuff.

There is a certain type of episode that you’re always going to see in comedies and I think it dates back as far as “I Love Lucy”, but honestly it very well could go back farther than that. The premise is that the husband does something that upsets his wife, the husband must do something to prove his love for her and regain her affection. In a show with a married couple, it’s an easy premise to have. It’s a formula that has worked well for various shows over the decades. You can always change enough variables to make the situation seem unique, but it’s the same basic story when you get down to the bare bones of the situation. I’ve grown pretty tired of this particular formula over the years because it’s really just the same story with a new paint job each time.

As for the rest of the episode, it was all pretty decent. The writing was hilarious as usual, Cheech’s story was a perfect representation of his character. If nobody had ever seen the show before, they would get a perfect sample of Cheech in this episode and be able to know just about everything about him. And there is also a fight scene towards the end had me in stitches. Jimmy gets into it with a “differently-abled” person who has extremely short arms, but still gets beaten up by him because he is just so good at kicking. What was hilarious was that the guy with short arms did this very funny fighting dance while he fought.

Overall, Fugget About It didn’t really bring anything new to the table this week from a story perspective, but they did deliver big on the laughs. In a comedy like this, that’s really the most important part. You don’t tune into Fugget About It for a deep narrative, you just want to hang out with some fun characters for a half-hour and have a few laughs. So while I may not enough the formula I spoke about before, there’s a reason it has lasted over the decades. It’s easy to personalize and it’s easy to build around. The best part of the episode was definitely Cheech though.
