BUBBLE CAN Review: 2 Nuts and a Richard “King of the Rings”

Another week, another “2 Nuts and a Richard”. The show kicks off the New Year with a trip into the past. As the guys are driving to Richard’s cottage, they end up in a car accident and visit a medieval festival where people take things a little too seriously.

It’s episodes like this that give me hope for the show as whole. I’ve been very critical of the show in the past, so much so that that somebody from the show even reached out to me to plead their case. They made some excellent points and even gave me some information to research about the show. Since then, the show has been more digestible but it still gets bogged down in the same routine. Every once in a while, they get out of the radio studio and actually have an adventure. These episodes are easily the most fun. The best part of the show has always been the guest appearances from the show’s many characters. Take that and add a little adventure and you get a great half hour of television.

This week was completely medieval. Getting trapped at a festival where things get taken too seriously, the guys need to survive and get out in one piece. Mario and Jose are constantly at odds in the episode, debating is medieval or sci-fi is better, differentiating them further. They’ve come across extremely similar in the past, so literally anything that sets them apart is always welcomed.

The guest stories were sort of weak this week. While usually the best part of the show, they were very glossed over this week and were just very boring.

Overall, I’m happy with the episode. While it was boring at times, it was also full of adventure and funny writing. When I just wanted to see the story progress, the guest stories seemed to serve more as distractions.
