Short Review: Descendants Wicked World “Puffed Deliciousness”

Freddie is now officially a student at Auradon Prep. When she finds out that she has to take a Remedial Goodness class, Evie and Mal explain what the class covers. Including how to smile but not just with your mouth. The reformed villains also explain “smizing,” or smiling with your eyes. Before they can explain more, it’s time for lunch.

As the trio heads over to the buffet table, Mal trips over Ruby’s (Rapunzel’s daughter) hair. Of course, Audrey has a joke about the length and condition of Ruby’s hair.

Back to the important part of the episode: lunch. It turns out that all of the food they are served is cute and sweet. Freddie immediately falls in love with the puffed deliciousness. While Freddie stuffs her face, Mal and Evie give her a lecture about not stealing. (I’m not sure why this speech is appropriate here. Does she have to pay for the food she’s eating? They insinuate that she’s stealing the food but it’s never actually explained.) Making her way down the table, Freddie bumps into Lonnie. Freddie drops a pie, which her mysterious friend grabs.

Mal and Evie reminisce about their first days in Auradon. Then someone (presumably Audrey) snaps a picture of the three girls stuffing their faces.

This was an interesting, yet confusing, episode. Freddie seems a little more unrefined and actually evil than any of the original Descendants villains did. Seeing Mal and Evie school her in the ways of Auradon Prep is pretty cool. They have transformed from the bad kids to the tour guides. However, their whole “don’t steal” thing is out of place. Freddie isn’t stealing, is she? So why does she need a lecture on not stealing? I can understand the need for the speech but it would have been better placed during a time when Freddie was actually trying to steal something. And I really want to know who this mysterious friend is. Just get on with it!
