Dis ‘N Pit

Our Take

There are two directions that seem to happen when you have comics inspired by an animated series: 1) The dialogue is rather close to that of the TV show characters or 2) You know these characters so well that there isn’t a chance of any of the dialogue written would be said in the actual TV show.

Number 2 is what happens with “Crystal Catastrophe”. The whole thing is written like scripture and not like a Regular Show script, and it’s just so bland I could barely get through it. On the other hand, “Dis ‘N Pit” seemed to have its shit together, and the dialogue almost was FORCED to be similar to the series because it featured Muscle Man laying down his insults which is very indicative of who he is.

Unfortunately, this creates a split decision on whether or not to buy this month’s issue. On one hand, you get a story indicative of the TV show that has a rather unique art direction, on the other hand, a “Catastrophe”.
