BUBBLE CAN Review: Two Nuts and a Richard ‘Survival Games’

0Two Nuts and a Richard is one of Adult Swim Canada’s Friday night staples. The show is based on the lives of three comedians living in Quebec, Canada and has a large cast of interesting characters who regularly drop in or call their radio show with their stories regarding whatever it is they’re talking about. Was last night’s episode any good? Read on to find out!

In “Survival Games” the guys may lose their jobs and the only way to save them is to enter the Hunger Games. Literally.
I’ve been pretty hard on this show, though there have been a lot of redeeming qualities about it as well. This episode was fantastic and is the biggest turnaround for the show yet. With the Hunger Games movies coming to an end, this was a perfect time to drop this episode. There are a lot of references to the books and movies, but watch out for spoilers in this episode. They do spoil the books and movies. Even Mario, one of the main characters, is frightened that the whole experience will somehow spoil the movies for him.

The Hunger Games references came across very vague at the start of the episode, but they quickly clear up any confusion by blatantly stating that they will be doing a Hunger Games in the radio station. There is a lot of action in this episode, which is cool, but they also keep those stories that make the show great.
This is also the first episode where the three leads feel like different characters. Their personalities felt more distinguished. Richard was hesitant to kill, while Mario was concerned about Hunger Games spoilers. Jose was a resident expert on the whole ordeal.

Overall, this was a great episode. It really stands out from the crowd that hasn’t been so great thus far. Hopefully the show can ride this momentum and be the show I know it can be.
