Review: Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man: Web-Warriors “Contest of Champions: Part Three”

ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN

Spoilers Below

For the fourth game, Spider-Man teams up with Iron Spider, Agent Venom and Thor against Terrax, Attuma and Annihilus in a fight within the subway. The battle goes on for a while, but then Spider-Man uses Robot Decoys to distract Grandmaster so he, Iron Spider, and Agent Venom can board Grandmaster’s ship to save the hostages. With the help of MODOK and Leader they do just that, but we come to find out that Aunt May is aware of Ben Parker being Spider-Man which causes the rest of the Web Warriors to find out as well.

The Web Warriors free NYC’s citizens, but the Grandmaster defeats Earth’s warriors and claims NYC as his despite the fact that his ship was destroyed and he has no more pieces. To be continued next week…

Our Take

On one hand I was annoyed that we couldn’t see more fighting between Terrax, Attuma, and Annihilus against Thor, but when I saw that A-Bomb and She-Hulk were going to join the fray, I was kinda grateful we didn’t have to see any more. Instead, the epic space jaunt that featured cameos from Leader and MODOK was way more entertaining, and I was rather delighted with the fact that the aforementioned villains didn’t forget who they were. The scene featuring Aunt May and Ben Parker was as compelling of story-telling as I’ve seen from the series, it’s just too bad that Agent Venom is just so poor of a character, that he really doesn’t contribute at all. Stupid character design, stupid voice, and nowhere near as powerful as he is in the comics, it’s a real shame.
