Review: Wander Over Yonder “The Wanders; The Axe”

Spoilers Below

The Wanders

Wander stumbles into a cave featuring a prism that splits his personality up into 100s of Wanders. Sylvia has to collect ’em all though begrudgingly returns the ‘Annoying’ Wander. Once everyone is back, Sylvia and Wander can resume their activities.

Our Take

I couldn’t help but want to keep that little Wander at the end. In any case, I like Sylvia-heavy episodes though this one didn’t seem all that adventurous nor take advantage of her brute strength. To be quite honest, I’m surprised the Wanders didn’t put up more of a fight. In any case, kudos to Jack McBrayer in really stretching his voice acting muscles by trying to keep the foundation of Wander in tact all the while exploring different facets of his personality. That could not have been an easy thing to do but Jack pulled it off.

The Axe

Peepers gets fired after Lord Hater loses his evil market share to an evil sandwich. Unfortunately, Hater doesn’t know how to do anything, so when the sandwich tries to start a war, he hurries to rehire Peepers whom is more than capable at making sure Hater is considered a legit intergalactic threat.

Our Take

With the first half of the episode being all about Wander’s sidekick, it only makes perfect sense to have the second half be all about Hater’s sidekick. I find it hysterical that Hater had to battle a sandwich for universal domination, moreover, give it up for the producers for making me root for the supposed villain of the show. The space battle at the end was fun, but I wish we had more of it. But overall, a good night of show.
