Review: Lego Star Wars: Droid Tales “Mission to Mos Eisley”

There probably isn’t a more satirized franchise in the history of animated comedy than Star Wars. Enter, LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales take on the Episode IV saga that has been done countless times by Robot Chicken and Family Guy (like at least nine cutaway gags, and a full blown trilogy effort). However, unlike previous efforts, we get a short rendezvous with the Star Wars Rebels gang before we get into the meat and potatoes that is yet another cartoon reenactment of Episode IV.

Thankfully, the episode featured a bunch of hysterically written jokes as put together by the brilliant (and ever busy) Michael Price, and for that I thank him. From R2D2 sabotaging a bunch of robots, to a whiny Luke Skywalker, to a Darth Vader that uses the force to make his foes literally dance for him, I had a good time. Also, put a blind fold me, and you could convince me that Matt Sloan’s performance was actually James Earl Jones, and I would totally believe you. Also, kudos to Anthony Daniels for being the one actor from all of the Star Wars films to reenact his character both in this series, and others, no matter what. And why not? When you have a good thing going, don’t spoil it. That could be my same advice for the hardcore Star Wars fans that may turn away from another parody. Loosen up, and I guarantee you have a good time in LegoLand.
