New Footage of Old, Unreleased ‘South Park’ Game is Glitchy Geeky Gold

South Park Old Game

With popular TV-adapted games like The Simpsons: Tapped Out, Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff, and South Park: The Stick of Truth, we sometimes forget the pioneers that paved the way.

Remember The Simpsons: Hit and Run? Well, it turns out South Park attempted a clone of their animated series counterpart, and although it was never released, a moderator on the Nintendo Age Forums recently stumbled on a pre-alpha form in an old Xbox. The original Xbox, of course.

The logical next question: what’s game-play like? It’s a process, according to the guys over at HappyConsoleGamer, who had to reboot the software multiple times simply to explore one level. Check out their YouTube channel (or below) if you want to see what that looked like.

For our lazier readers, the game resembles past South Park games, which embraced 3D models, as opposed to the show’s typical 2D animation.

Bringing this story back to the future (“Great Scott!”), this is probably a good time to mention that the new SP game, The Fractured But Whole, is scheduled to be released sometime next year.
