Former ‘Simpsons’ Animator Draws Homer & Marge in Vacation Guestbook

H&M Vacation

Ah yes, after a long, enjoyable vacation there’s no better way to pay back a hotel than to sign their guestbook for future lodgers to see and be assured that they’re not likely to get murdered so their organs can be sold on the black market for drug money to back evil dictators that oppress the local people. (Or something. Speaking generally, of course)

No better way, unless you’re a former assistant director of The Simpsons and instead draw a full page doodle of a beach-going Homer & Marge. And that’s exactly what Alex Ruiz did after a trip to Belize.

“We love Thatch Caye,” he wrote underneath the drawing, which was first posted on Reddit by Alex’s girlfriend.

“When you are a former Simpsons animator and you go on vacation you always leave a doodle in the guestbook,” she wrote, adding that they had “an absolutely wonderful stay.” Looking at the resort’s photos, you’d have to be a soulless wet blanket not to have a ball at the luxury all-inclusive. That place could probably even bring a smile to Kanye West’s face.

Ruiz has since worked on Avatar and Family Guy, and is currently a freelance illustrator.
