Alright, so, before I begin, there’s a good “what the hell did I just watch?”, and a bad. I just got done with “Chips and Ice Cream,” and I have no idea what the hell I just finished up with. I understand that the writers would want to do different things, and put the characters in different situations, but what do you do when the story goes absolutely nowhere?

The character that “Chips and Ice Cream” revolves around, Morty Rogers, is a forgettable addition to the Adventure Time universe. The writing lacked any real development, well, outside of causing a break of his psyche when Morty realized that he actually wants Chips and Ice Cream back with him. On top of that, what did “Chips and Ice Cream” do to progress anything with Finn or Jake? Or, better yet, what has “Chips and Ice Cream: done to make this season of Aventure Time any better? The answer to both questions is a resounding “nothing.”

The quality of “Chips and Ice Cream” seems to be a microcosm of what has been wrong with Adventure Time since the show came back from its hiatus. The tires are spinning something fierce, and the ship is just getting further and further down in the ground. The writing isn’t there, and the investment I had in Adventure Time is slowly deteriorating because the show seems to have lost it’s charm and writing ability when Rebecca Sugar left to start Steven Universe. If you want to watch a show that has character, and is the full wit and character, go watch Steven Universe. This is another stinker in the 7:30 time slot.
