You may recall last year when we told you that Brad Ableson (Good Vibes) was working on a new animated pilot called Legends for presentation for Comedy Central. We were wondering what the hell happened with it just a month or so ago, but now we know…IT’S GOT A 10 EPISODE ORDER!

That’s right, Comedy Central has officially picked up the new animated series entitled “LEGENDS OF CHAMBERLAIN HEIGHTS” for 10 episodes that will premier sometime in 2016. The series is executive produced by Bento Box Entertainment’s(“Bob’s Burgers,” “The Awesomes”) Scott Greenberg, Joel Kuwahara, Mark McJimsey and Mike Clements (“Good Vibes,” “The Life & Times of Tim”), along with Brad Ableson (“The Simpsons,” “Good Vibes”) and Michael Starrbury (“The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete”), with creative team Quinn Hawking and Josiah Johnson (“www.jerseychaser.com”) producing.

According to a press release, “Legends of Chamberlain Heights” is an urban animated series mixing raucous comedy and social commentary that centers on three high school freshman: Jamal, Grover, and Milk(Hawking voices Jamal and Johnson voices Grover and Milk). The three friends tackle life with some wins and some losses, but failure doesn’t faze them since they’re legends…even if it’s just in their own minds.

For Bento Box, this is a nice rebound as they just had a Comedy Central series in Brickleberry cancel after three seasons, and it marks the production company’s first original series. Moreover, the pick up of this series by Comedy Central adds to an already stout animation slate with South Park still going strong, more TripTankand the premier of Moonbeam City which is supposed to happen sometime this year. Brad Ableson’s Good Vibes was a fucking awesome series that should get a second season to prove that all is right in the world, and has already warmed up ties with Comedy Central by helping produce the short-lived animated web series Biatches.
