‘Animals’ gets two season pickup from HBO!

HBO has given a two season pickup to Animals after two episodes were screened at the Sundance Film Festival. According to Deadline.com, the series was probably picked up for two seasons of 10 episodes each, with the two episodes screened at Sundance to help kick off the run which should happen sometime in 2016.

For those that don’t know, Animals follows the under-dwellings of NYC, your rats, your pigeons, you name it and it’s part of the cast. The series was created by Phil Matarese & Mike Luciano whom we interviewed earlier this year, and was executive produced by Jay and Mark Duplass. The series features guest voices from the likes of Katie Aselton, Nick Kroll and Rob Corddry and was produced at Starburns Industries (Rick & Morty).

Ironically enough, The Life and Times of Tim was the last time HBO had an original animated series on its network, and when we interviewed Phil and Mike they had noted the Steve Dildarian-created series as a huge influence. You can watch a sizzle for Animals and see just that.

This comes off the back of HBO announced another major pickup, this one for pilot and you can read about that here.
