English Dub Review: World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman “Showdown at Yekaterinburg”

What is the definition of a two trick pony? It’s when a character has two massive tricks, but absolutely nothing else. And this week’s two trick pony is the Russian Terror. After Moroha was caught off guard at the end of last week’s episode, he’s healed by Angela’s naked healing. So, that answers how Moroha was able to go after the Russian Terror. Fast foward through about three minutes of nothing, and Moroha is in front of the Terror’s mansion. And that’s where things kind fall to pieces.

The Russian Terror was built through out this arc to be the big bad bitch of World Break, and what she ended up being is a mewling quim. She threw two big spells out at Moroha, who was essentially god during these last few weeks. After the rest of his merry team of women (I think there was a guy in this besides Moroha, I’m not sure) show up, Moroha is given the opportunity to take down the Lightning Beasts, and the Terror’s giant lighting golem with one attack. My mind was blown with how lame this fight actually turned out. Now, there’s an episode of cleanup, plus whatever is going on next week with the dream from the beginning of the “Showdown at Yekaterinburg”. So, yeah, there’s that.

I was not impressed with “Showdown at Yekaterinburg” in the least. There was so much there that could have been expanded upon to stretch this into next week, at least for half of an episode. The Russian Terror was supposed to be the baddest person on the planet, and nothing during “Showdown at Yekaterinburg” gave me that feeling that she was actually that bad bitch. Moroha dispatched her with less effort than when he killed off that Fortress Class Metaphysical.

Speaking of Moroha, shouldn’t he have every spell and sword attack that he knew from his past lives from when his past lives awoke? Every episode, he picks an attack or a spell that fits that specific purpose, screaming “I remember everything!” Do you mean to tell me that Moroha doesn’t actually remember everything? This is some bullshit if you ask me. If he remembers everything, why does he keep remembering everything every time his ass is in the frying pan?

At the end of it all, the only thing I come up with is “meh.” There was nothing that made me want to rewatch “Showdown at Yekaterinburg.” This was one of the biggest missteps in this Broadcast Dub season, and I am pretty disappointed. If “Showdown at Yekaterinburg” weren’t the end of this arc, I would say skip it. Otherwise, watch it for “god-like”  Moroha, and the mewling Russian Terror.
