Bubble SG Review: Heartland Hubby ”Zombie Apocalypse!”

Spoilers Below

So what do the producers of Heartland Hubby have for us in the final episode? Something heartwarming, or something epic? Why not both? This time, a zombie virus plagues Bukit Prata, the estate of the Lims!

There’s a zombie apocalypse going on, and some people have all the wrong priorities. Take Siva for instance, all he cares about is protecting his last durian! And Robbie is intent on getting his video legacy out, but Encik predictably buggles it.

Winnie gets taken first, still going on about hashtags as she’s dragged into the bushes. Robbie goes next, followed by Cathy. All their neighbours and friends are infected. Then, there’s only Encik and Molly left.

Molly waxes lyrical about how the sunset brings hope in a time of darkness, but typical Encik brings that poignant moment crashing down. They stil have to escape the estate, and time’s a-wastin’!

Running for their lives from their zombie friends and family, Molly trips and falls. “Go on without me”, she implores Encik. But he realizes that he can’t live without her. As the crowd closes in, there appears a purple stream of light. And everyone is cured by someone formerly thought dead! Shh… I won’t spoil your surprise!

There are laughs, and there are also touching moments. Could this have been better? Yes. But it’s a solid, rounded episode to end the season on a good note! They should have played the last episode just before National Day with its theme of individuality, strength and bonding. Here’s hoping for an even better second season if there’s going to be one!
