#SNL40 spent more time on ‘In Memorium’ than they did on TV Funhouse

With a run-time that would certainly give Peter Jackson films a run for their money, Saturday Night Live and NBC celebrated 40 years on the air, and trotted out the top names of comedy-lore. Unfortunately, TV Funhouse had little more than a cameo as part of the night’s festivities.

That sucks, too because right at the start of the show, Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon even sang the Ambiguously Gay Duo theme song! So, naturally, I was like ”Oh good, we should see a WHOLE segment just on AGD/ TV Funhouse.” Instead, we got a clip show introduced by Louis C.K. that featured ALL of the produced SNL-bits with MAYBE brief mentions of The Anatominals and The Ambiguously Gay Duo.

To get an idea how short the inclusion of TV Funhouse was for the almost four hour long special, the ‘In Memorium’ segment featuring all of the dead SNL personnel was longer than anything produced by Smigel! What planet are we on? The fact that NBC/SNL didn’t even bother to include a decent cartoon segment is a pile of bullshit that’s about as smelly as Kanye West’s performance (the son of a bitch was on the ground for half of his performance!).

There’s a reason why I’ve stopped watching SNL for almost a decade, and it’s reasons like this and Kenan Thompson. In any case, TV Funhouse’s Robert Smigel has a new series airing this Friday Night on Adult Swim called Jack and Triumph. I’d rather watch that anyway.
