Krusty Got Drunk & Pissed Off The NHL

Beloved Simpsons character Krusty the Clown has found himself in legal trouble, and it has nothing to do with offensive stand-up jokes, tax fraud, or wrongful accusations of robbing the Kwik-E-Mart. The National Hockey League has taken exception to a brief scene on the series involving Krusty and the Stanley Cup.

“NHL sent a letter about Krusty drinking out of (and throwing back up into) Stanley Cup, but cool Fox lawyer said to ignore,” former showrunner Mike Scully said in a tweet on Monday.

Many of you might be wondering how this came about, considering The Simpsons is currently in its offseason, with new episodes not set to debut until September 28th.

Well, the incident in question actually comes from a past episode, “The Last Temptation of Krust,” which aired as part of Season 9 way back in 1998. Little late to the party, no?

In other news, an NHL executive was clearly watching FXX’s Simpsons marathon over the weekend.
