Comic Review: Bravest Warriors – Impossibear Special #1

The first story it titled “Drop The Beat.” Impossibear purchased a brand new 12″ single that he is dying to hear. Every time he tries to put the needle on the record, he gets interrupted. When the Warriors get summoned to Kwx-Vex Taquito plant to prevent a meltdown, the rainbow bear takes advantage of the situation and stays at home to listen to his prized album.

“Impossi-bagel” is up next. Wallow and Impossibear are having a picnic on the beach. Impossibear builds an impossible bagel sandwich, which is stolen by some humongous seaside birds. However, the bear refuses to let go of his bagelwich. He fights the birds in mid-air, resulting in a crazy fall into the city. Wallow races by in his ship, saving Impossibear. Once again, the birds return for the bagelwich. Still refusing to let go, Impossibear flies off with the birds. At least he remembers to send a postcard back to Wallow!

In “Save Us,” the Warriors receive a distress hologram from an old man and woman who have run out of tacos. (Yeah, there’s a lot of food in this issue.) The Warriors rush off to get tacos for the couple. Unfortunately, each member of the team forgets to bring an item vital for take-off. Each time a member goes to get said item, they run into either Catbug or Impossibear in a strange situation. It’s not until the Warriors’ ship runs out of gas that we find out what the bug and the bear do when the team is away. You won’t be able unsee what they do!

My favorite story is “Night Trap.” Impossibear wakes up in the middle of the night to find that Catbug has been eating his snacks while everyone is asleep. Angry, the bear builds a trap for the little bug. When Catbug wakes up the next night and heads off to find a midnight snack, Impossibear is there waiting with cake in his trap. Wallow manages to stop Impossibear before Catbug gets killed. The punishment that Wallow dishes out for him is more than Impossibear can bear.

“Whiz Biz” is the final story in the issue. Impossibear and Wallow are heading off to the Hover Mall to do some hover shopping when Wallow notices a couple of fish in peril. As the fish work on SCUBA-fying Wallow’s spacesuit, the impatient Impossibear dives into the ocean to take care of the problem himself. What is the problem? Some plumber fish are installing a toilet on the seafloor. When Impossibear realizes that there is both fish pee and poo on his body, he freaks out and climbs inside Wallow’s spacesuit. With the bear smushed up inside his helmet, Wallow gets back to work removing the unwanted toilet from the ocean.

This was a pretty fun issue. All of the stories are stand-alone so there will be little effect to the canon of the animated series. It would be cool to see a special issue for each of the main characters. Just to see what they do when the team isn’t together. At the very least, I hope there will be another Impossibear issue in the future!
