Review: Wander Over Yonder ‘The Ball’

Wander and Sandy are chilling at a peaceful ‘relaxitorium’ when all of the sudden a big church bell sounds. Turns out its the sound of this planet’s civilization getting ready to be destroyed by a cute dog named buster. Turns out the citizens of this planet have no idea where they are going to live now, so Wander convinces them to stand up and fight the doom-bringer. Wander does so by launching a rocket into outer space leading the dog to runaway, but it comes back with the launched projectile and starts slobbering all over the planet. Wander decides to round up the troops, this time with a bunch of dog whistles that cause the dog to run around and junk, but the dog isn’t going anywhere. Even after Wander throws a bunch of trash at the dog, the mutt decides to snatch the ball-shaped planet and go to town on it. Everyone takes off on a ship, but Wander commandeers it and goes after the dog head on and crashes the jet on top of the dog making a new permanent residence for the planet-dwellers.

The only thing I didn’t like about this episode is that the planet-dwellers of the ‘relaxitorium’  is that we had no idea what to call the people trying to escape from the crazy dog. That said, it was a rather novel approach to have a dog as an arch-nemesis and to try and throw at it every stereotypical dogism was fun, but at this stage of the series I would think our enemies would be a bit more creative.
