Advance Review: Wander Over Yonder ‘The Greatest’

Spoilers Below

The Greatest

In Wander’s first episode, he is pitted against none other than Lord Hater. All Lord Hater wanted to do was prove that he was rightfully The Greatest ruler in the entire universe. He wanted to prove this by taking over the Binglebops during their Bingleberry Festival. Essentially the Binglebops are cute furby like creatures that make out a lot – Free Love, just like the Grateful Dead.

Though Wander and Sylvia roll into the festival after Lord Hater and his eyeball minions already enslaved the entire Binglebop population, Wander finds a way to take back the night. After he disproves Lord Hater’s “Greatest” statement by owning him in various competitions including Hotdog Eating and Sack Racing, Wander lets Lord Hater finally win in a race back to town. Which ironically was the old “get too cocky” trick and caused Lord Hater to wreck his ship, becoming catapulted to another planet. ..Later Hater

In a modernized version of some of the greatest slapstick humor cartoons I grew up watching, Wander Over Yonder is quite a riot. With a banjo wielding orange guy and a Flintstone’s “Dino type” side-kick, WOY has my vote as one of the most entertaining cartoons that an adult could stand in 2013.
