Those in the UK tired of home-grown talent getting cancelled due to money reasons (see. The Mongrels, Full Englishare in luck because it looks as though Parliament is listening. The British Film Initiative is getting ready to start dishing out tax-credits of up to at least 25% to home grown UK-talent in an attempt to get more of it.

According to Deadline.com, ”Projects must be deemed culturally British or qualify as British co-productions in order to receive a rubber stamp from the BFI. They can then apply for tax relief on production spend incurred since April 1, 2013 when the regs were put into law. The scheme allows a 25% tax credit for TV series and animated programs costing at least £1M per hour to produce. The aim is to stem runaway production and to protect the local creative industries.”

Here’s hoping Britain can join the ranks of Canada and the US in providing funny animated television geared towards adults and that this tax break can maybe pave the way for more.
