Review: The Looney Tunes Show “Mrs. Porkbunny’s”

Spoilers Below

The local grocery store no longer carries long-stemmed carrots so Bugs decides to grow his own. Three months later, BOOM! A bunch of carrots! Porky comes over and he opts to take a few so that he can make carrot cake for a commercial shoot that is happening nearby. Daffy decides to tag along and as a result he decides to get into acting. Soon after the shoot, Porky gets a phone call that his carrot cake is a huge hit, so much so that the producers want to make a business out of it by selling the pig’s cake. Porky agrees, but only if Bugs helps because it was HIS carrots. After taking the contract to Foghorn, he thinks that Porky and Bugs should go into business for themselves as opposed to selling their recipe to someone else. Unfortunately, the partnership seems short-lived because Porky and Bugs keep arguing over what to call the company. The duo eventually settle on Mrs. Porkybunny’s, but then they start disagreeing on how to sell the cake.

Meanwhile, Daffy is at his first commercial audition for breakfast cereal and after giving his thoughts on how the cereal really tastes, he seems to get through it OK, but he doesn’t get the part.  Eventually, Daffy tries out for a number of different product advertisements, but for one reason or another he isn’t able to land any of them.  As a result, he convinces Porky and Bugs to shoot a commercial with him the star for their line of carrot cakes to which the creators seem to like it! Foghorn does, too!! But, America is a tough sell and they ain’t buying!

Yosemite sings some sort of country song.

I wasn’t crazy about the promos for this episode as I thought we were getting more of a big fight between Porky and Bugs, but instead they didn’t seem to go at it that much, rather there were just a few disagreements between business partners. What I like best about this show (besides Kristen Wiig as Lola) is that the two plots intermingle so well, probably more so than most half-hour shows, that it helps pave way to a humorous conclusion. This show deserves to stay in prime-time as it gives us grown-up problems that the entire family can enjoy watching with their favorite Looney Tunes characters.
