As we head into 2013, we look at 2012  and list out the best animated series that came, saw, and didn’t bring any kind of an end to the world. We assure you there are a lot of surprises in this list and without a doubt some controversial entries. But, whether you love, hate, or remain indifferent on which shows should be where, be sure to comment and let us know how YOU feel.

BobsBurgers

Its the only entree from FOX’s Animation Domination and I think most would agree that Bobs Burgers is indeed the best animated show on the network. Here’s a show that only a year ago we had no idea if it would stick around as FOX tried a couple of shows that maybe had a bit more in name value i.e. Jonah Hill’s(Moneyball) Allen Gregory and the feature film-inspired Napoleon Dynamite. But, armed with just its charm and quick-wit Bob’s Burgers outlasted the other 8:30pm efforts and quickly has become a household name.

But, what made this year great for Bob’s??  Was it the kid? The Parents? Or any of the guest stars??? Nope, trick question…it was all of these things.  Unlike say The Simpsons,  Bob’s Burgers very seldom lets ONE kid take over on a plot, usually the kids are getting into some sort of mischief together and rebound back as a team. And while most shows see the husband be some sort of affable oaf that messes shit up only to have the wife yell at him, Bob’s Burgers features Bob and Linda of whom are working parents trying to raise kids and keep the doors open on their business at the same time.  Also unlike The Simpsons or Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers does guest stars so well that instead of being a sore thumb, they act as citizens in the world created by Loren Bouchard that complement Bob and the kids with great examples being Zach Galifianakis, Nick Offerman, and now show regulars like Kevin Kline and Jeff Tambour. To be honest, the guest stars fit into Bob’s Burgers much better than anything Saturday Night Live could do.

With a Season 4 of Bob’s Burgers already in pre-prod it will be interesting to see if more episodes the better works for the show’s future.
