REVIEW: GRAVITY FALLS “LITTLE DIPPER”

Dipper tries to magically increase his height.

Spoilers Below

Gideon is pissed and he wants the mystery shack. That said he has to get rid of the Pines or at least get Grunkle to sign it over. Thus begins a mix of threats and bait/switch tactics in an effort to scare Stan into signing over the lease.

Apparently, Mabel is taller than Dipper and she and the rest of the shack let the little guy have it in the insults category. That said, Dipper consults his manual which leads him to a prism that with one ray of light can make you smaller, and with the other make you bigger.  Of course first thing Dipper does is make him slightly taller than Mabel, the second?? To make him MUCH taller than Mabel. His sister suspects foul play but isn’t able to put her finger on it.  Eventually, Dipper tells his sister what’s up they start fighting over it until Gideon gets a hold of it and shrinks the twins! He takes the ant-size siblings back to his place where he calls up Stan threatening to hurt his kin unless if he signs over his property. Stan calls him out on his bluff which causes Gideon to go get ice cream. When the crazy little guy comes back, Dipper and Mabel escape and follow Gideon over to the shack where he is planning to zap Stan with the ray.

Once everyone gets to the shack, Mabel throws  gummy at Gideon’s hair which causes him to drop his flashlight long enough for Mabel to grab the light, but because of the sibling bickering she isn’t able to do anything with it and Gideon catches them and takes back the light. After which Gideon zaps Soos with the ray and shrinks him to join the others in a jar. Later, Gideon heads into Stan’s mirror room while everyone in the jar is able to escape. Being the jerk that he is, Gideon smashes all the mirrors and finds Stan point blank with the flash light but before the little kid can do anything, he gets tickled long enough for Stan to kick him out leaving the kids with the flashlight that sets them back the correct height.  Unfortunately, they forget Soos!

In a night of terrible offerings from Disney, leave it to  Gravity Falls to help out! Yep, this week’s episode had loads of laughs and tons of fun that we’ve come to see pretty much all season from Gravity Falls with all of the mystery and awe that is becoming the best in the toon biz. Lil’ Gideon is always a trip to see and to be honest comes off cute more than he does maniacal which I am not sure if that is supposed to work that way. Also, this was one of the few times where we see the twins fighting over something and the issue rears its ugly head on more than one occasion which provides for a fun reminder of how we got there. Stan steals the show however, his oblivion is just reaching esoteric heights that provides some of the best jokes on television.
