REVIEW: REGULAR SHOW “SUGAR RUSH”

Mordecai and Rigby must pick up donuts for a meeting.

Spoilers Below

Who the frig orders a whole wheat donut?? That’s like getting a Big Mac with no meat…welp besides Benson. That’s right, Benson tells Mordecai and Rigby to go to the shop and pick up some donuts for the upcoming park meeting. As such, the guys go and pick up not only the whole wheat variety but a bunch of double glazed apple fritters. They get back to the house and play some games, but when they come back, Mordecai and Rigby discover Pops just ate the whole friggin’ batch leaving him in a sugar rush!

To try and get him to snap out of it, Mordecai and Rigby bring Pops to Skips’ place in which the big guy suggests that the only way to cure a sugar rush is to add more sugar. Everyone does just that, only to discover that eating a bunch of sugar takes you to an alternate universe where everyone is pretty much on slow motion. To try and get back to normal everyone eats Pops’ lolly pops which guess what? Takes the guys sans Skips to another alternate universe where time is not only much slower but we only get shadows of everyone at the park. Really, it’s weird…can’t even describe it. Anyway, the guys finally find the way in getting home is to eat the whole wheat donut which has no sugar and therefore brings everyone back to normal in time for the meeting and a fresh box of donuts!

This week’s episode almost reminded me of the “Road to the Multiverse” episode of Family Guy, where the characters are traveling at all different points of time, luckily Regular Show is like the Mace Windu of alternate universes so it doesn’t seem strange and instead delivers a bloody good time. Not only were the different universes pretty cool(especially the last one), but the scene where the guys have to go and get donuts in slo-mo was really, really cool almost giving me an Inception type of rush that admittedly made my heart pound. The only real gripe I had with the episode was during the Pops montage which felt so typical it almost seemed out of place this week. But hey, can’t complain much when WATCH OUT…BOOM!
