REVIEW: RANDY CUNNINGHAM 9TH GRADE NINJA “LAST STALL ON THE LEFT”

Randy finds an ancient ninja guide and suits up for his first battle in a sneak preview of this cartoon about a teenager who must hide his new secret identity when he’s learn’s he’s chosen to be a ninja

Spoilers Below

A normal teenager named Randy stumbles onto a book called the “Ninjanomicon”. It comes in a case with scribbled notes and a ninja cap that turns Randy into a ninja that has to fight evil! There are a few catches though, the biggest being he can’t even tell his best friend Howard. Hannibal McFist is a bad guy, and he hangs out in a hideout with The Sorcerer and other bad guys looking to destroy the ninja once and for all. Having said that, McFist also has kids that go to the same school as Randy who is there showing off his new powers and such. Seeing this as a perfect opportunity, McFist calls in the Kraken to come and destroy the ninja once-and-for-all!

After getting totally pwnd, Randy hurries home to consult his “Ninjanomicon” in hopes there may be secrets hidden within to help him defeat the monster currently terrorizing his school…well thanks to Howard! Randy returns to the school to fight the monster, and learns that he has a katana in his suit which soundly helps him defeat the beast!

Fun show, it kind of reminds me a lot of Spider-Man. In that we have a smart-aleck teenager that stumbles on to a power that allows him to become a super-hero but he can’t tell anyone! Ben Schwartz makes a fun Randy while Howard comes off as a typical doper-friend type side-kick which I am sure will appeal to its age group. Having said that, Disney has been hitting off really well with new animated series as of late, and I do think this could be another one that works out well for them in giving them almost a Tron for a younger crowd type deal.
