REVIEW: Regular Show “Best VHS in the World”

Spoilers Below

Mordo and Rigby are at the last spot in town that rents out VHS tapes and they are about to blow it because they have an overdue rental out on the “Best VHS in the World” that wasn’t exactly cared for. If the guys don’t get back that tape, the guy who works there is going to slice up their membership card and then no more movies! Worst yet, in order for the dudes to find the movie, they have to …clean…their…room!

At first, Mordecai and Rigby decide to just pay for the tape, but the game has changed because the store clerk tells the guys that his manager is doing inventory in the morning and that they need to come up with the tape or face collections of upwards a $1000!! And if they don’t have the money they will surely get their thumbs broken. As such, the guys decide to man up and clean the room the right way so that they can find the tape.

Unfortunately, after cleaning the room the guys can’t find the tape so they decide to ask around the house to see I anyone borrows it. Weirdly enough, by the time they get back to their room, its already a mess. In their closet lives a little red bastard named Buttonwillow McButtonwillow that not only took the tape but everyone else’s missing stuff so Mordecai and Rigby go after him. They eventually convince the dude to give them back a tape in exchange for helping him get his own tape store membership card. The first movie that he rents?? The “Best VHS in the World”.

Again, another great effort from the Regular Show team who have been just killing it as of late. Granted, this week’s episode didn’t quite have the emotional investment that the prior week’s episode had but it was still very good. The Buttonwillow dude was great, and I love how the producers continue to use old school content for their shows like arcade machines and now VHS tapes. Good to know that younger generations are getting a real education of what it was like growing up in the 90s. It’s not perfection, but its pretty damn close.
