REVIEW: FAMILY GUY “BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU FISH FOR”

When a boatload of Mercedes-Benzes sinks in Quahog harbor, Peter, Joe and Quagmire hop in a fishing boat to salvage cars for themselves. They can’t, but they do meet a talking dolphin (voice of Ricky Gervais), who soon moves in with the Griffins.

Spoilers Below

Mercedes had a shipping accident and as such dumped a bunch of cars into the water, and of course Peter, Quagmire, and Joe opt to go fishing for cars. But, what they get instead is a talking dolphin named Billy coupled with a Mercedes hood ornament. Soon enough, Billy opts to move in with the Griffins, bringing along more fishing puns you can shake a stick at, but he also is quite a handful. He talks down to the rest of the family and he makes Lois throw food at him with a round of applause to follow. This is short-lived however, as Peter too starts to see Billy’s condescending tone and decides that he needs to go. To do that Peter agrees to help Billy patch things up with his ex-wife.

Stewie is trying out a new day care, but Brian starts to suspect there is a good deal of neglect going on. Upon his revelation, Brian sees Stewie is right about the horrors of the facilities but is caught off guard by the super-hot manager Miss Emily. It soon becomes obvious to Stewie that Brian is so in awe of Emily, that he is failing to see the very obvious fallacies in her day-care abilities. That is until Brian finds out Emily has a boyfriend!

I know its a great show, and this might be just a slight complaint, but why are the dolphins British? I guarantee no one in the U.K. has even seen a dolphin unless if its on vacation or on TV. Having said that, Ricky Gervais is awesome and he was great in this episode as the annoying dolphin, Billy. Also, I think Family Guy has been on long enough, where some Brian and Stewie story lines are becoming a bit formulaic and tacked on, even with the decent finish they didn’t setup any decent cutaways and I believe this same sub plot was already done a ton of times with the Drew Barrymore guest spots. There were two really good gags that I liked in the whole episode, the first was the Tricia Takanawa whaling deal, the other was the killing two-birds with one stone explanation from Peter that I might have to see again and again.
