COMEDY CENTRAL ANNOUNCES BOOK PUBLISHING ARM

I, have actually tooled around with the notion of writing a book, and who knows maybe one day I might, and maybe when I do Comedy Central will be a good home to publish it! Already known for having a great merchandising business in such areas as DVDs, CDs, and promoting tours, the network is planning to joint forces with Joint Press Publishing to release books based on properties that get seen on Comedy Central (except NOT including Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, or Daniel Tosh, all of whom have their own book deals). You can check out the press release below, but I really, really want a South Park novel!! Wouldn’t that be sick? Or what if they did like a comic book series for Ugly Americans ala Bongo Comic’s The Simpsons. The possibilities are ENDLESS!

In a continuing effort to achieve utter and total comedy domination, COMEDY CENTRALhas joined with Running Press, a member of the Perseus Books Group, to form a joint publishing program, it was announced today by Michele Ganeless, President, COMEDY CENTRAL and Christopher Navratil, Publisher of Running Press.  The joint publishing relationship, which builds on established and developing brands of the cable network, will release its first title, a holiday-themed novelty book from Denis Leary, in October 2012.  Mitch Fried, Executive Vice President, Enterprises, will oversee the program for COMEDY CENTRAL.

“Success today means reaching our fans on all different platforms.  This publishing relationship is another example of the kind of extension that keeps COMEDY CENTRAL the #1 brand in comedy,” said Ganeless.
