Bongo Comics Review: Futurama #58

Despite the fact that Bender has “Mom”, Prof. Fransworth feels that the robot can do better with parents. So, after apparently using both “The Jetsons” and “Lost In Space” as inspiration for design, VOILA! Bender now has a mom and a dad. But, before long they start to intervene in Bender’s personal life by cutting him off from the one person who means the most to him, Fry!

Meanwhile, Farnsworth’s doomsday toys are gone so he attempts to go through the rather short list of suspects to find the perpetrator. He soon finds out that he questioned the wrong group of robots because if he had stayed a little closer to home, the case would’ve been closed!

Overall this issue was a real letdown for me. The Robot Mafia that is prominently displayed on the cover, only comes around for a couple of cells which sucks for me because Clamps is one of my favorite characters! I claim false advertising too be quite frank, because Fry and Bender weren’t even involved in that story. I will say Bender’s parents were well thought out, although it was involved in a plot that saw Bender be apologetic for his actions and when the hell does he ever do that?
