Review: Family Guy “Stewie Goes for a Drive”

Stewie tries to be a big boy and steals Brian’s car for a joy ride but lands in a bit of trouble

Spoilers Below

Standing outside a broken telephone booth with money in his hand…actually not really Peter is outside a hospital after getting his shots. As luck would have it, both Peter and Lois run into Ryan Reynolds and his Audi who is in town to shoot a movie in Newport. But, shit happens and locations change so Ryan Reynold moves in across the street in Quahog where is film is actually filming. He displays rather odd behavior however as one day Peter goes over and strikes up a rather ambiguously gay conversation. He invites Peter over to a dinner party, and is kind of slighted by the fact that Lois is there too. Later on after a rousing game of tickle fighting, Ryan wants to hang out with Peter later in the week just the two of them at a restaurant because as he puts it, “Moroccan food is the jiz!”

While eating, Ryan kind of makes a pass at Peter who then runs away. When Peter tells Lois, she cant believe it, so he goes to Ryans house to settle the score. Ryan denies it, and turns the tables on Peter who basically accuses him of throwing out labels.  Peter tries to make amends but ends up throwing the relationship in the shitter.

In our other story line, Brian picks Stewie up from his play-date, but feeling up for a shitty Carrie Underwood song Stewie stays in the car while Brian goes in the house.  Stewie learns that he can drive so as Brian is in the midst of writing his next shitty novel, Stewie and Rupert steal Brians Prius and drive off. But, when a radio give-away becomes too tempting to pass up, Stewie breaks a safety(and legal in some states) rule in trying to make a phone call while driving and crashes. He tries to cover it up but Brian doesnt buy it and threatens to tell Peter and Lois. Fearing the worst, Stewie runs away. He leaves behind a recorded message for Brian that he is heading for the airport. However, Stewie only makes it to a rundown neighborhood only to be picked up by Consuela. Thankfully, Brian finds him and convinces Stewie to come home…by any means necessary(you gotta see how he leaves its great!).

This week’s episode was off the walls funny. I could barely type my notes, I mean all the gay advances from Ryan Reynolds were great, but Stewie hit a home run at the end there. The cutaways were all solid too, but my favorite joke was the Justin Bieber gag where although this episode was probably started 9 months ago, was somehow perfectly timed with the controversy of Justin Bieber being a baby, baby’s daddy. How do they DO THAT! In short, this week’s episode was totally the jiz!
