XBOX 360 REVIEW: SOUTH PARK “SCOTT TENORMAN’S REVENGE

I wish I could get revenge on Matt Stone and Trey Parker for this game.  Of course, what can you possibly expect for 800pts in the Xbox Live Arcade?!  Let me break this down in as flat-out of a way as I can…

The game opens up with a narrator making Cartman look like this God-like being.  Scott Tenorman, Cartman’s half-brother (and an evil ginger), stole his Xbox hard drive and now the gang(Cartman, Kyle, Kenny, and Stan) is pissed off because they lost all of their game data.  Kyle, Stan, Cartman, and Kenny (all playable characters) go into a future where Tenorman has created an army of evil ginger robots.  You are forced to collect different items, like from a MegaMan game (such as MegaMan himself), and run through an onslaught of these Ginger robots that drop out of red portals.  This is a game meant for Mature (17+) age groups, yet any 5 year old that plays any modern video game could breeze through it.

If you haven’t noticed, this is not a game I would recommend; but, I’m not done telling you why.  You get these weapons throughout the game…baseball bats, crowbars, bubble guns, etc.  The whole purpose of these weapons are to help you destroy the evil robots.  The problem with this is that the gameplay lags.  You try to get close enough to hit these stupid, flaming-haired iPads and you can’t reach them.  You try again and by that time it’s too late and they hit you (very, very frustrating).  Keep in mind, you have three hearts per life (think of the first time you played Zelda) and five lives.  You go through them rather quickly, to say the least due to this gameplay lag.  Enough of the bashing for now.  I will try to find the needle in the haystack…I mean, some good points to this game.

Voices

Matt Stone and Trey Parker were in on the making of this game and made sure all the voices were spot-on.  They even have a few one-liners in there that made
me chuckle.  I also found a few F-bombs if you’re the type of person that needs that in your video games.

Characters

There is in no way, shape, or form, a lack of characters in this game.  Even the most die-hard of all the South Park fans won’t be disappointed in this aspect.  Each of the
four playable characters has their own specific ability that makes them unique to each level.  This also means you have to play each level four separate times to get everything, unless you use multiplayer.  Oh, there also isn’t any way to quit and have someone else join up in the multiplayer world yet.  Wait, trying to find good…

Scenery

Everything looks and feels very similar to the show.

———————————————————————————
I hate not having more to say in a positive aspect about this game, because I was expecting more out of it as were a lot of other people.  Again, you get what you pay
for.  In my opinion, go buy yourself something else for ten dollars or wait until the RPG game comes out to test your luck with that.
::Insert Cartman voice:: This game can suck mah balls.

Two thumbs way down.
