Throwback Thursday: Watch Troma’s Entire ‘Toxic Crusaders’ Cartoon on YouTube
Anyone who follows me on Twitter (or follows me in real life) knows that I’m a huge Troma fan. Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz are unquestionably geniuses, and super nice guys as well. If you don’t believe that last part, go say hi to Lloyd at the upcoming New York Comic-Con. He’s always around to pose for a pic, or sign/personalize/sodomize anything you bring.
Since today is Throwback Thursday, I’d like to point out that the entire Toxic Crusaders cartoon is now available on YouTube, and you should probably stop what you’re doing (especially if you’re at work) and watch all 13 episodes now. Tell your boss Gonzo said it was fine.
Toxic Crusaders aired in the early ’90s as a spin-off of Troma’s Toxic Avenger franchise, but was aimed at kids. Of course, it had to be toned down from the blood & sex & obscenity-fest that the movies were, as to not traumatize the children and turn them into violent, sexual deviants. Still, in the days of more relaxed censors, there was plenty of humor aimed at adults that easily sailed over the little ones’ heads. And by little ones, I mean dwarfs.
Anyway, as a grown-ass boy I can say this was absolutely an entertaining and hilariously self-aware show, and with Murakami-Wolf-Swenson & Troma at the helm, voice talent like Rodger Bumpass (Squidward of SpongeBob), and an environmentally-considerate overarching message, you really can’t go wrong.
Well, at least not any wronger than was intended. It’s still Troma, you know.
Check out the first installment below, and then say, ‘Fuck it,’ and just watch them all.
