The Simpsons’ Home Has Been Recreated in a Canadian Couple’s Kitchen
No, “Canadian Couple’s Kitchen” isn’t our neighbor-to-the-north’s version of California Pizza Kitchen, so don’t be looking for it during a layover at the Vancouver Airport. Instead, it refers to Marcia Andreychuk and Joel Hamilton’s recreation of the Simpson family kitchen in their own Calgary home.
It started with a framed photo of The Simpsons’ version of the room; then they added corn cob-patterned curtains (which Marcia sewed herself); the countertops, cabinets, washer/dryer, fridge, and stove were covered with colorful contact paper; and some cartoony knobs were fastened to all the cabinets. The next step? Buying granny-apple green retro appliances.
Though the look may surprise interior decorators and laymen alike, it’s a logical move for the Simpsons-obsessed couple, especially Joel.
“Every winter I watch every single episode that’s been released,” he said, adding some references throughout the interview with CBC News.
Will the rest of the house follow the Simpsons model too? Probably not, but Marcia joked that they’re considering transforming their basement into Moe’s Tavern.
Don’t forget the jar of pickled eggs.
