Sousaphone Player Trolls White Supremacists with ‘Family Guy’-inspired Serenade
When it comes to the recent debate and protests surrounding the removal of the Confederate flag, it’s difficult to find humor in the situation (although some of the protesters are unintentionally hilarious in a very sad way.)
One man and his sousaphone set out to change that. When Ku Klux Klan members began marching in the streets on their way to the South Carolina Statehouse, local resident Matt Buck picked up his trusty instrument and began following them while providing music.
It wasn’t an act of support, but instead a trolling attempt, as Buck belted out the same tune Stewie of Family Guy played during a cutaway gag in which the youngest Griffin claimed he recently got a part-time job following around overweight folks and playing the tuba in a comedic fashion.
“My goal was to bring some light-hearted comic relief to a rally where tensions were high,” Buck told the Daily Mail. “I wanted to embarrass the KKK, rather than curse, harass, or become violent, like some other protesters decided. It was really just an instance of having a sousaphone in the right place at the right time.”
And, in case you were wondering, nobody fell down – but Buck still played the song’s (and scene’s) hilarious end note.
