Review: Wild Grinders “Call of the Wild Grinder”

Did the Woodland Critters make their way to the Wild Grinders?

What did I watch tonight? “Call of the Wild Grinder” featured some really fucking creepy woodland animals tonight. Granted, they aren’t at the level of getting someone with AIDS to piss in an empty eye socket, but Mamby is creepy as hell. I honestly am at a loss for words right now, and that’s a first while watching Wild Grinders.

As for the episode itself, it was a change. Last week, I said that the writers need to start writing better for different plot points. Well, this week, they delivered. This is on par with the episodes I thought weren’t acid to my eyes. I thought the writing was rather on point, because we get from A to B, without me going “what the hell is going on?”

Well, I did once. But it wasn’t because of a plot, it was because of Chanel West Coast. She can definitely rock it on a calendar, with her ass hanging out. But her attempt to be the voice of Flipz is bad. There is no reason why someone who is voice acting can’t at least try to mask their voice. She just came in, read the lines, and left. It’s so terrible. Luckily, there’s minimal lines, so it doesn’t detract that much from the episode.

The animators hit it pretty well when they gave Rob and Meaty the “natural” helmets made of twigs and vines when they went offroading with the new board. It was a little detail that would normally would go unnoticed that someone picked up. Speaking of the board, it was Goggles again to the rescue when Lil Rob had a half-cocked idea of off-road skateboarding. That dude works way too hard for Rob.

This episode actually impressed me a lot. I actually rewatched it just because. It may have been just the perfect alignment to get a good episode out, but I think this could be the start of acceptable Wild Grinders episodes. Even Rob put some effort into this week. I’m afraid I may start to like Wild Grinders. Hopefully I won’t regret that last sentence.
