English Dub Review: Sword Art Online II “GGO”

Kirito enters GGO to investigate Deathgun. But he doesn’t get very far in his first chance.

Overview (Spoilers Below)

“GGO” is Kirito’s guide on how to navigate in and around GGO. Since the first episode, you got a look into how the other half lives, with their stacked characters, and how the elite play. Thankfully, Kirito’s transfer enabled him to come from Sword Art Online and ALfheim Online with all of his skills in swordplay intact. Something tells me that his sword skills will come into play. Call it a hunch on his sword purchase, and that he even impressed Sinon with his skills.

In the last two episodes, you saw Sinon seem cold and withdrawn, with a side of psychosis of guns. in “GGO,” she seems really warm, and open to helping Kirito do his best when Kirito said he wanted to sign up for the Bullet of Bullets tournament. Sinon found a way to get a seemingly impossible amount of credits really fast, and Kirito blew her away with how he was able to win the game on his first time playing. Of course, he doesn’t say “I’m a top player in two MMO’s, and I have a lot more skill than you think.”

A lot of “GGO” was Kirito getting acclimated to the environment because it’s so different from the fantasy setting he was accustomed to. However, with the conversion from ALO to GGO, the skill set is there, and he’s going to be a lot better off than the normal Joe Schmo from down the lane. I’m digging the “team up” between Sinon, because it showed a different side from what “Cold-Hearted Sniper” and “Memories of Blood” portrayed Sinon to be. Next week, we should get more on the BoB tournament, so that’s going to make things a lot more interesting. However, a lack of Deathgun has me thinking that he will show up, in force, within the next couple of episodes. So, that’s just another reason to be excited.
