REVIEW: REGULAR SHOW “ACE BALTHAZAR LIVES”
I pray the Lord my soul to keep, If I should die before I wake, Bless me Lord my soul to take.
Spoilers Below
After the guys watch a doc about their favorite band Adrenaline, they decide to go find the -thought-to-be-dead Ace Balthazar who just happens to hang out in Mordecai and Rigby’s backyard. At first it takes a little bit convincing, and even more so after the guy meets the rest of his former band mates, but after a montage makeover from Eileen and Margaret, Ace looks the part of a rock and roll frontman. This convinces his bandmates to accept Ace back in the band, but the ghost of the REAL Ace shows up at the reunion concert to put a stop to this imposter mucking up his good name. That said, the two Aces do seem to have a lot in common as they both look the same, they dress the same, hell they even CRUSH the same. Unfortunately, they can’t play guitar the same, and as a result the ghost of Ace fronts the band, but only until the new Ace claims it back thanks to his mighty battle axe! Greatest concert, ever?? Maybe…
This week’s episode has a lot going for it. For one, it was one of the funnier episodes with both Aces screaming, yelling, and Crushing their stages. But, the plot seemed pretty run of the mill ‘lets give this guy a makeover to make him feel a part of something’ that we’ve seen a 1000 times before and that which we will see a 1000 times more. Mordcai and Rigby were also rather quiet this week, so hopefully next week they can be more of an integral part of the story.
