Review: LEGO STAR WARS: The Yoda Chronicles ‘The Menace of the Sith’

Spoilers Below

Sidious isn’t liking the fact that he is losing the war against the Jedi, so he creates a Sith Clone to help even the odds and yea he’s kind of a badass. Even worse, Sid looks to make a BUNCH of these Sith Clones with a snazzy new machine, but not surprisingly Dooku put it together so it doesn’t even work. Yoda and Obi-Wan show up and clean house, but Sidious flies away and one of the Sith Clones incapacitate the Jedi and better yet the Clone captures Yoda. However, Jedi convinces the Sith Clone to be a Jedi but instead, the clone just goes anti-hero and flies off. Yoda and Dooku fly after the rogue Clone and each battle the other for the opportunity to convince the transient to join each other’s side. The Jedi eventually run into a bunch of Bounty Hunters that haven’t gone bad…yet.

Meanwhile, Anakin is playing sub teacher for the padawans while C3PO complains to the council about his current role.  Anakin loses the kids whilst on Tatooine and finds them with the Sith Clone, but the Clone doesn’t want to be bothered which of course Young Skywalker kind of ruins when he calls in the troops. The Sith capture the clone and basically use him as the basis for even more Sith Clones against his will. Anakin gains the ire of the Council and even more so when he goes after the Sith all by himself…and the kids. A space battle ensues and all of the padawans build up their own arsenal and take on a Sith Command Ship that Anakin destroys. Dooku and Grevious crash land with a broken Sith Clone, but the main Sith Clone comes back and destroys them all! Jack throws Seth into a tin can and tosses them into space.

The real joy about the Michael Price-written LEGO specials is that unlike the terrible Chima episodes there are genuine laughs dotted throughout the episode. You have the jokes that can appeal to everyone like the terrible traffic in space or being the one stuck with the kids. You also get the jokes that are geared towards the Star Wars fan, like Yoda having trouble with his own silly dialect or General Grevious pretty much acting like a Vanna White as he shows off the Clone machine. My personal favorite gag was the incessant no’s from Darth Sidious and that’s coming from a guy who has watched maybe 7 minutes of Star Wars in his entire life.
