REVIEW: LEGO NINJAGO “PIRATES VS NINJA”

Ninjago City is threatened by a band of pirates.

Spoilers Below

The Ninjago need a new dojo so that they can continue Lloyd’s training. To do that they need to challenge the local dojo master aka Dareth in a battle to determine whether or not the Ninjago can train there.

Meanwhile, Garmadon has recreated an old pirate ship called “The Bounty”, but is annoyed because his crew keeps mocking him about his mega weapon never working. Garmadon soon learns that the weapon can’t destroy that it can only create and does so by recreating the old pirate crew that used to run this ship led by Captain Soto. However, Soto doesn’t like the idea of someone else driving his ship so he locks up Garmadon and the Serpentine in the dungeon.

Eventually, the Pirates storm through downtown stealing everything in its path, that is until Ninjago sneaks on board and puts a whippin with the help of Lloyd who learns Spinjitsu and sends the Pirates to the slammer. Unfortunately, Garmadon is able to get away on the ship, but not before talking a little trash to his son on the way out.

This was a really enjoyable episode and as such was quite a bit funnier than last week. Helping me remember when I was a kid playing with Legos, we got to see Pirates this week wreak havoc and help settle once and for all the long debate of “Pirates vs Ninjas”. I also couldn’t help but crack up when the Ninjago has to follow the pirate ship down town while riding the bus and Dareth was really funny too with all his wise cracks.
