NPD Group backs up a bit on Premium Channel declines
Maybe this report should not have even come out in the first place, because since Monday it’s been nothing but a mess. Earlier this week, the NPD group had put out a report claiming that Netflix and Hulu were slowly but surely causing the decline of subscription services like HBO and Showtime. Showtime would then refute these claims and now it looks like the NPD group is backing out of its dubious claim and has since sent this update to Deadline.com:
“A recent press announcement from The NPD Group that was released on Monday, January 20, 2014 (‘Cord Shaving? SVOD Subscribers Increase, as Premium TV Subscribers Decline, According to The NPD Group’) should not have called out declines in subscribers for specific premium TV channels, HBO and Showtime. The data used for the press release pertains to aggregate results for all premium TV channels and does indicate that the overall number of subscribers has declined, based on a representative sample of the U.S. population. However, upon further examination of the results, there is data supporting the conclusion that individual subscribers are either subscribing to more channels, or adding channels over time. In that case, faithful premium channel subscribers are becoming more so – which would be consistent with the subscription increases being reported by individual channels.”
First of all, that’s about as fustercluck of a statement that you can come up with. As I mentioned the other day, I have all of the premium channels, plus Hulu and Netflix, and at the end of the day I go with what I like to watch. That said, I never really got into shows like Dexter or Game of Thrones and I basically keep the internet channels around for animated stuff. Other than that, no one really has me ‘hooked’ to their service.
Are there TV shows on that guarantee you subscribe? If so which ones?
New year and still hiding and supporting the censorship org The PTC that post disinformation as well. And you can't handle the truth that I expose them and tell the truth about them Lil Al that is a fanboy of The PTC. There wrong about the UCLA study that teens don't want sex on TV shows or movies which was flawed and without merit and baseless as well which you seem not to get Litttle Al. Anf you should not support censorship and what The PTC stands since their liars can't back up their claims either as they have no facts or proof either. The facts are the fact Lil Al which you can't handle.
