Is The Funimation All-Access Pass Worth It?

I take a deeper look into the offerings on Funimation’s premium video service.

When I had to sign up for Funimation’s “All-Access Pass” to catch their new set of broadcast dubs, I was skeptical. Sure, I can watch a very copious amount of subtitled anime, but that doesn’t do me a whole lot of good. What does it have for someone who hates subtitles? Well, lucky for you, I can tell you if it’s worth the money.

Of course, you get access to the newest Broadcast Dubs that Funimation put out, as well as Laughing Under the Clouds and Psycho-Pass 2. They premiered in November, but I’ll have something to say about it soon. What’s also pretty damn cool, is that you can catch up with shows from the past. So, what do we have? Here’s a small sample.

Shows like Deadman Wonderland, episodes of One Piece that didn’t get to Toonami (both past and future), and all of the Dragon Ball Z movies all show up on the service. However, you can watch all of the episodes of DBZ for free without a subscription. All of the episodes of Dragon Ball, though, are All-Access only except for the first five episodes.

Now, the question boils down to whether it’s worth it. You have a lot of dubbed shows and movies to watch. On top of that, you have access to the free stuff, which includes a lot of episodes of DBZ. If you want to get a sample of shows like One Piece and Fairy Tail, then stick with free. But if you want to get all of the episodes of all of the shows Funimation has to offer, not to mention if you want to get shows like Assassination Classroom and Death Parade, subscribe. I think it’s pretty worth it, especially for $7.99 a month.
