I Don’t Want to Live on this Planet Anymore: A Documentary about ‘Bronies’ is on the way.
I wish this was an April Fool’s Day joke, but the seventh circle of hell is upon us.
What kind of world do we live in when grown men not only become fans of My Little Pony, but they attend cons and sing the theme song hoping that it makes them less lonely? Enter the world of Bronies, a sect of My Little Pony male fans that have amassed together to share their love of a television series geared towards girls in the 6-11 age group. And just when you thought this was a pretty hardcore group of people, this culture of people has inspired a new documentary created by Michael Brockhoff where he has even recorded interviews with series creator Lauren Faust and the wonderfully talented Tara Strong of whom voices one of the characters.
Just watching the trailer I can already see holes in a lot of these Bronies” stories and to be quite honest I hope this thing is just a fad for the majority of them. I actually felt really sorry for the dad in the latter half of the clip because I can’t even imagine what that poor guy is going through. That said, the Hub I’m sure is loving every bit of this as it probably translates to ratings. You would think the majority of dudes watching their network might be interested in a really great show like Dan Vs., but as our own Cybertron wrote about previously, the Hub’s priorities are all screwed up. Bronies are the Juggalos of the TV industry. But, if you are lonely and THIS is what gets you through, may I suggest you go to Youtube and search Napalm Death. That should help…
