Home Release Review: American Dad on DVD

Strangely enough, Family Guy Vol. 11 costs $20 on Amazon with 23 episodes and THIS release is $25 with only 18 episodes. Yes, 18 episodes is still a good value on a $25 disc because if you were to buy each episode @ $1.99 a piece on Amazon Instant you would certainly be paying a whole lot more. That said, it looks as though 20th Century Fox didn’t put as much mustard on this home release as it did on the Family Guy one.

Whereas Family Guy came COVERED with special features, it seems as though on this release no one really gave a shit. Yea, it’s an uncensored release which is awesome and yea you get your obligatory deleted scenes and selected episode commentaries, but really the only other feature you get is Stan’s booty dancing. This is a bit odd when you consider this release houses the ‘Hot Water’ episode where Steve sings ‘Daddy’s Song’ a song that I know was searched for MULTIPLE times after the episode originally aired. You would think someone would but just THAT music video on the disc, but no go.

Overall, it looks as though this release was kind of just ‘put’ out there. No real though on creative special features or even additional time with the commentaries were included and with this release being more expensive than its Family Guy counterpart released the exact same day, I would say if you could only choose one I’d say NOT this one.
