Family Guy Folks Give Season 13 Plot Details, 5-Minute Simpsons Crossover Clip

At the Family Guy Comic-Con panel, showrunners and talent were on-hand to discuss the upcoming 13th season and give a sneak peek of the September 28th Simpsons crossover premiere.

The video preview was obviously the highlight of the panel, and at this point you should just really watch it yourself for the full effect. If you’re “working” right now and can’t watch it, then without giving too many details, the double-length episode will feature Bart & Stewie making a prank call, Peter teaching Homer how to do a cutaway, a extended fight sequence between patriarchs, and a whole bunch of jokes that poke fun at each show’s perceived shortcomings and unique strengths. Without getting prematurely excited (nickel for every time, right?) the episode seems pretty damn funny.

The producers were quick to discuss the plots of other upcoming episodes as well. In one, Jesus will return again to Quahog, this time for a Christmas episode where Peter & the gang attempt to get Christ laid, according to executive producer Steve Callaghan. “We’re all going to hell,” cracked actor Mike Henry is his Cleveland voice.

In another episode, Peter meets Liam Neeson (voiced by Liam Neeson) after drunkenly claiming to be able to beat up the action star. Executive producer Rich Appel said Neeson “was very willing to poke fun at himself.” My guess is Neeson recorded this episode prior finding out how badly A Million Ways to Die in the West would flop. Viewers will also hear the voices of guest stars Julie Bowen, Jeff Garlin, Allison Janney, Lea Thompson, and Joe Buck this season.

Other plotlines include Meg becoming a foot-fetish model, Stewie getting pregnant with Brian’s baby (there are at least three things wrong with that statement), and Chris fearing he’ll fail a history test before “Brian and Stewie take him on kind of a Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure through time,” according to Seth Green.

Callaghan also mentioned the fact that series mastermind Seth MacFarlane “has talked from time to time of wanting to do” a Star Trek special similar to how they did the Star Wars episodes.

Speaking of movies, fans hoping to see Family Guy on the big screen were given a glimmer of hope. “We kind of started … pre-work on it a couple years back,” said director Peter Shin. “But I think it’s on hold right now because Seth is filming Ted 2.” A trade-off that might be worth it.

However, Callaghan added: “Someday we will make that happen.”
