British Animated Series ‘FULL ENGLISH’ Probably Canned; Are Brit Networks Tame or Cheap??
Full English is an animated series created in the UK that is often compared to Family Guy but was created and broadcasted overseas on British Channel 4(for the record we tried are damnedest to find some reviewers over there but to no avail). The show was created by Two Brothers Pictures and aired Monday Nights at 10:50pm, but despite promise the series was pulled only after 5 episodes(although rumor has it there is a sixth somewhere and that its too dirty to air).
For those that have never heard of the series, we basically get a satirical look at England and featured a wide array of goofy characters. For starters we had a fat goth chick named Daisy, resident overweight dumbass Dusty (think a Brit version of Peter Griffin or Homer Simpson), my personal favorite character Edgar, Wendy who is trying to be a loving and supportive person no matter what akin to Marge or Lois, jock-Jason, and lastly a more debonair take on Quagmire named Ken of whom has an evil imaginary friend named Squidge.
Similar to UK’s The Mongrels in which got cancelled probably due more to costs and subject matter more than anything else, Full English was definitely a crude show that judging from its Facebook page had a pretty hardcore audience. That said, if you are a network and you don’t help promote your series then it won’t be successful and I think that’s what happens here. Every cable network(except MTV) pretty much knows that you can’t judge a series after only a few episodes, you have to allow a couple years to give it a chance to find its audience. Hell, even Canada is trying with its own home-grown efforts like Crash Canyon and Fugget About It!
