Blu-Ray sales are up for 2013, but DVDs taking a nosedive!
According to a new report from Deadline.com, Blu-Ray sales in 2013 were up a little more than 4%, but DVD sales are down almost 14% when compared to 2012! This is despite the fact that cable TV shows are showing record numbers and the movie business is as strong as ever.
It is also noted in the article that overall disc sales fell almost 10% and that disc RENTALS fell close to 9%. However, online movie and TV sales were up 40% when compared to 2012, with rentals getting about the same. Subscription services revenue was also up over 30% while OnDemand was up almost 10%.
