Animated Film ‘Wrinkles’ Will Feature Fun for Old Ages

Who says elderly retirement home residents can’t have fun? Well, for starters: almost everyone. Nevertheless, that isn’t stopping the good-time geezers in Wrinkles, a Spanish animated film directed by Ignacio Ferreras and based on Paco Roca’s graphic novel. Looking to reach a wider audience, the film has now been dubbed into English, and features the voices of Martin Sheen, Matthew Modine, and George Coe.

The story centers on former bank manager Emilio, who is sent to a retirement home by his family. There he meets Miguel, a happening, small-time grifter assigned to be his roommate. Miguel shows Emilio the ropes as the duo navigates through the ups and downs of daily life in the home, creating a story that is funny, touching, and true-to-life. If you’re looking for a film to watch with your parents that is unlikely to contain any surprise hardcore sex and/or inappropriate language (but is still, you know, interesting) this looks like a pretty safe bet. Wrinkles hits select theaters on July 4th, and will be available on-demand, digitally, and in other formats that old folks don’t understand on July 15th.
